Permission is required to copy or reproduce copyrighted song lyrics and sheet music outside of main chapel times. CCLI’s school licences provide a simple and cost-effective solution to legally reproduce thousands of popular assembly songs and hymns.
CCLI's Collective Worship licences cover a huge range of worship songs and music publications popular in school assemblies. To confirm if a publication is covered check the Authorised Publications in our Copyright Owners Lists.
The number of copies you make under the Collective Worship Music Reproduction Licence depends on your licence size category. For example, a category B size school (50-99) can make up to 99 copies of any section of a publication under their licence(s). You may keep any copies made under the licence for as long as your licence remains active.
If you only ever use songs that are public domain, you will not need a licence to reproduce them.
However, as a separate typographic right exists in any typeset page, permission may be required to photocopy sheet music even if the song you wish to reproduce is out of copyright. Always check the copyright information at the beginning of the publication for details.
You can view and download your licence certificate from your CCLI Profile.
If you don’t already have one, create a CCLI Profile now. To link this to your school you will need your Access Code, which you should find on emails sent from CCLI or by contacting us.
It’s vital that you report the songs you reproduce or copy under your licences. This is done using CCLI’s Reporting website. Our Reporting Support page will help you get started and walk you through the process to make reporting as simple and quick as possible.
