Church Licences
Music adds vibrancy and builds atmosphere. It can generate energy or inspire reflection. However, permission is required for public performances of music outside of worship services. With the Public Performance Licence you can put live music at the heart of your ministry.
Concerts and Recitals
Hold live music performances on church premises where no admission fee is charged.
Events
Perform music during free social and community events, including Christmas carol events.
Youth and Children
Stage youth concerts, or use live music to entertain or add atmosphere to children’s events.
When music is performed in a public setting, outside of church worship services, songwriters and owners are entitled to royalties. APRA AMCOS are the organization that collects royalties on behalf of song owners, and have chosen to partner with CCLI to license churches and Christian ministries on their behalf.
An exemption exists for music played during church worship services. So if music is not performed in any other church activities or by third-parties using church premises, you do not need this licence.
There is no limit to how many concerts or music performances you can hold as long as your licence remains active.
All buildings within the curtilage of your church are covered. If you wish to hold music performances in a separate venue to your church, please contact CCLI for guidance.
