Onboarding your church

Once licensed, an introduction and adaptation process is essential before it can be actively used within the church. Try it at your church like this!

Let everyone in your church know you're licensed!

“Our church subscribes to CCLI's Church Copyright License. We have permission to copy hymn sheet music, so please feel free to use it in your worship services and small gatherings."

  • Advertise on bulletin boards, weekly bulletins, newsletters, etc. to let people know you've obtained a legal license so they can use it freely and with peace of mind about copyright. (Exclude choral scores)

Appoint a church administrator (1 person)

  • Designate someone to represent your church and educate them about copyright and CCLI.
  • You are granted administrator privileges on the CCLI My Page to add or restrict other accounts.
  • Maintain ongoing contact with CCLI on behalf of the church, including inquiries and license renewals.

Assign and manage departmental reps

  • Church admins can give reporting permissions to multiple people.
  • It's much easier for each team to report online if they have their own person to do it.
  • Church connections and user management can be done online on your CCLI My Page.

Set a license enforcement D-day and prepare ahead of time

  • There is great value in enforcing licensing as a social responsibility and church culture. We recommend organizing a D-day in your church so that you and your entire congregation can get on board with these healthy values. Before D-day, please make preparations such as training relevant personnel and copyright notices, and be sure to share this process with your church members.
  • For the first month, you and your manager should meet regularly to discuss things together.
  • That's what copyright is all about: working together to value your work.
