How to Use Your Streaming License
This guide is for churches with a streaming license. If you use free streaming sites such as YouTube, please be aware that there may be conflicts with their guidelines.,
Understanding streaming licenses
1. CCLI Streaming License Features
- Get clearances for CCLI-contracted songs all at once
- Access to hymns included in nonprofit worship services
- For non-profit use only
- Homepage or authorized streaming site (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.)
- Streaming of your own singing and playing only
- Enable live streaming
2. CCLI Streaming License Limitations
- Only if included in a nonprofit worship service
- Not available for monetization, including advertising, and not available for song-by-song uploading
- You can't use released sound recordings or sound recordings (AR, MR) (For sound recordings, there are additional sound recording and performance rights, and you need permission from all rights holders to use them).
- You can stream worship videos that include CCLI-managed songs, but you don't own the songs.
- When using streaming services such as YouTube, you may encounter additional restrictions based on the streaming service provider's terms of use and policies. CCLI cannot resolve the unique rights of each service provider.
How to use 1: Copyright and CCLI license notices
Copyright holders and copyright management organizations are cracking down on unauthorized use of copyrighted works. You can help your church/organization avoid unnecessary disputes by indicating that your use is properly licensed. Please use the example below to attribute CCLI licenses to your videos and video descriptions.
Copyright notice (in video)
Write the song's title, lyricist(s)/composer(s), copyright governing body, and CCLI church copyright license number. For more information, please refer to the Copyright Marking guide.
Example:
“At The Place Where You Call", 송은정 김준영
© 2009 송은정 김준영 (Admin by Kwangsoo Media)
CCLI License#123456 (Enter your organization's license number)
Indicate the license acquisition in the description field
Provide more specific details in the description field of the video. Please copy and use the form below.
Example:
This church/organization has obtained a church copyright license and streaming license from CCLI. This church/organization is using this video for non-profit worship purposes under the terms of the CCLI Church Copyright License and Streaming License. If ads are played in this video, revenue will be distributed to the copyright holder of the song, not this church/organization, as determined by the copyright holder of the song, not this church/organization.
You can verify that this church/organization is licensed with CCLI.
- Church/organization name “??Church"
- CCLI License #123456 _(Enter your organization's license number) _
- CCLI Streaming License #789101 (Enter your organization's license number)
How to use 2: Used as a form of worship
Even if you don't include advertisements, you can't use a church service video to interfere with the copyright holder's ability to make money. Any use that is outside the nature of a worship service may be subject to dispute with the copyright holder and may require a separate license.
You must upload one (1) entire worship service or song section containing the song. You can't upload songs in chunks; you need to get separate permission from the copyright holders of each song to upload them one by one.
- Title Consists of a combination of the date, service name, and church/organization name (content, including song titles, should be included in the video's description field.
- We don't use song titles because copyright holders may be harmed by videos uploaded for profit.
- Uploading one song at a time requires separate permission from the copyright holder.
Example:
- 2019년 6월 9일 3부예배 – 가나다교회
- 가나다워십 월요예배_ 19.6.9.
- 가나다교회 토요찬양 190609
- 190602 주일2부예배찬양
YouTube settings and precautions
YouTube is a service that allows users to upload and transmit videos for free, and earns revenue through advertising. If a church/organization has a streaming license and uploads a video to YouTube, there may be copyright disputes due to ads or music in the video. If you use YouTube, please read the following.
The YouTube Rules on copyright are constantly changing and evolving. We may change our policies at any time.
Upload settings
- Description: Cite the above copyright notice
- Advanced Setting: Standard YouTube license
If you see a “copyright claim" on an uploaded video
You don't need to take any action.
YouTube automatically analyzes videos to detect when they contain other people's work. When we do, we notify the copyright holder, and the publisher who uploaded the video is notified with a “report copyright infringement" notice. Once the copyright holder is notified by YouTube, they can review the video and take action against any unauthorized use.
If you use CCLI's management songs within the scope of the license, the copyright holder will not sanction you if they see that you have obtained a CCLI license.
No ads
- The CCLI license is for non-commercial use and does not allow for commercial use, including advertising. You may not pursue commercial interests, such as setting up ads.
- If your YouTube preferences show ads, please turn them off (if you can).
