Licensing for music performance

Our BumaStemra license(s) cover a range of music needs and are effective for a full calendar year*.

Buma Performance License icon.

Buma Performance License

Permits music performances and non-commercial concerts and recitals on church premises.

  • Performance License Low
    Covers live music performances by members of the church community only.
  • Performance License High
    Extends cover to include music performed by groups from outside your church community. Also permits background music played before and after services.

Play music recordings (CDs, Spotify, etc.) during church activities and events, children's/youth work, holiday clubs, and private coffee bars etc.

  • Background Music A
    Covers rooms up to 100 sqm.
  • Background Music B
    Covers rooms from 100 to 200 sqm.

  • Stream your worship services on your website, or other streaming platform (excluding social media channels).
  • Also permits you to stream background music on your church website.

*BumaStemra licences are renewable at the beginning of each calendar year, regardless of when they were originally purchased. If you are ordering towards the end of the year, please contact CCLI for options.

Honoring songwriters and artists

When music is played in a public setting, outside of church worship services, song owners are entitled to royalties. In the Netherlands, BumaStemra represent the rights of music authors and publishers. BumaStemra have chosen CCLI to license the playing and performance of music in churches and Christian ministries on their behalf.
