Whether you’re organising a wedding, funeral, or service of remembrance, you’ll want to ensure permissions are in place for any songs or creative works you wish to use.
Church-sponsored weddings and funerals (those where the bride, groom, or family usually attend the church) may use the church’s CCLI licences.
Couples or families who do not usually attend the church can obtain an Event Copyright Licence for the reproduction of worship songs and hymns during the service. This would include projecting lyrics onto a screen, or printing them in an Order of Service.
If you intend to use other copyrighted material during the service, or wish to record or stream a wedding or funeral during which copyrighted songs are played, CCLI recommends obtaining direct permission from the owners or licensing agencies who administer the rights.
